Designated ambassador of Cuba in Cambodia presents style copies

Havana, May 2 (RHC) The designated ambassador of Cuba in Cambodia, Milena Zaldívar, presented in Phom Penh today the style copies of the Credential Letters to the director of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ouk Pheang.

By offering her a cordial welcome at the Foreign Ministry headquarters, the director assured the Cuban diplomat that she will receive all the support in the development of her duties, and wished her success in the fulfillment of her mission.

Zaldívar, for her part, highlighted the excellent state of bilateral relations, based on solid ties of fraternal solidarity. She also pointed out the commitment to expand and diversify ties of cooperation in areas of common interest between the Caribbean island and the kingdom.

Both parties welcomed the sustained diplomatic ties in more than six decades, an occasion in which they ratified the will to continue advancing the agreements and consensuses reached as part of the high-level dialogues. In addition, they addressed issues on the bilateral agenda.

Phnom Penh and Havana established diplomatic relations on April 15, 1960. Both countries, active members of the Non-Aligned movement, have developed bilateral dialogue at the highest level and Cambodia maintains its support for Cuba in its fight against the US blockade.

In 2022, the then Cambodian head of government, Hun Sen, visited Havana, which made him the first senior leader of the kingdom to travel to the Antillean nation since Cuba joined the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations in 2020. (Source: PL)
