Cuban President congratulates Santa Clara on 335th anniversary

Santa Clara, July 15 (RHC) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel congratulated today, through his account on X, the Villa de Santa Clara on its 335th anniversary, the city where he was born and for which he is a deputy to the National Assembly of People's Power.

"Congratulations to the people of Santa Clara on the 335th anniversary of that city, so dear and endearing to me," wrote on the social network the also first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba.

Díaz-Canel graduated as an electronic engineer from the Marta Abreu Central University of Las Villas, in this city, and did his doctorate in the system of Government based on science and innovation for the sustainable development of the country in this same facility.

He also held several positions in the territory as first secretary of the Communist Party in the central Cuban province of Villa Clara.

Santa Clara, capital of the Cuban province of Villa Clara, is an industrial city, with scientific and cultural development, and also stands out in other branches of the socioeconomic life of the nation.

The festive activities began with the reveille mambisa and the traditional symbolic meeting at the La Cruz Bridge, in the shade of a tamarind tree between the Bélico and Cubanicay rivers, with a representation of the families of Remedios, the first inhabitants of the city.

Later, in El Carmen Park, in the church of the same name, the founding mass was held, where the Bishop of the Diocese of Santa Clara, Monsignor Marcelo Arturo González, gave the blessing to those present.

The celebrations for the anniversary of the city also included tributes to Marta Abreu and other symbols of the territory such as Eduardo Machado, Padre Pío, Padre Chao and Maestra Nicolasa, among others.

The solemn session of the Municipal Government Assembly was also held on the premises of the Marta Abreu Central University in Las Villas. Tribute was also paid to the 91st anniversary of the founding of the provincial radio station CMHW and the literary awards Fundación de la Ciudad were presented at the Martí Provincial Library.
