Havana, July 26 (RHC)-- Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republic, today congratulated the central Cuban city of Sancti Spíritus for the commemoration of the 71st anniversary of the assaults on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks.

From his X account, Diaz-Canel paid tribute to the noble and hardworking people of Sancti Spíritus, who conquered the venue of the national event with work, perseverance and results.

"Together w"  the president wrote on the social network.

“Sancti Spíritus is now 26. We congratulate the noble and hard-working people who conquered the seat with work, perseverance and results. Together with Raúl and other heroes of the Centennial Generation, we lived here the happiest dawn of the year. Congratulations #Cuba. #HistoryByStorm.”

Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, leader of the Revolution, and the President of the Republic, lead today in Sancti Spíritus the central act for the Day of National Rebellion

Members of the Political Bureau, the Central Committee and the highest authorities of the PCC and the Government in the territory are present at the commemoration that takes place in the Plaza de la Revolución Mayor General Serafín Sánchez Valdivia, a site that displays its best finery and to which some five thousand people from Sancti Spíritus came, representing the entire Island.

Doctors, workers, scientists, teachers, athletes, and intellectuals attend this celebration, which is also attended by members of various brigades and groups in solidarity with Cuba and a Vietnamese delegation.

This is the third time that Sancti Spíritus hosts the central headquarters for the Day of National Rebellion, having previously done so in 1986 and 2016.  (ACN)
