Havana, August 1 (RHC) -- The head of the Government of Cuba, Manuel Marrero Cruz arrived in Angola this Thursday for a 72-hour working visit, during which he will carry out a broad program of activities.

At the “4 de Fevereiro” international airport, the prime minister was received by the Secretary of State for Administration, Finance and Patrimony of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, María Fragoso Pascoal Ramiro, as well as by the vice-governor of the province of Luanda, Manuel António Gonçalves.

Also present were the Angolan ambassador to the Caribbean nation, Cândida Teixeira, and the director of America at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Felisberto dos Prazeres Martins.

During his stay in Luanda, Marrero Cruz will pay tribute to the National Hero and first president of the sister country, António Agostinho Neto; as well as to the Cuban commander, Raúl Díaz Argüelles, first head of the island's military mission in Angola who died there on December 11, 1975, in the battle of Ebo.

Likewise, he will have meetings framed within the scope of the historic relations of friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

Angola and Cuba have ties that date back to the years of the struggle for Angolan independence, and in the mid-1970s the Caribbean nation played a key role in providing military, technical and humanitarian support to that African country.

In the 1990s, relations were expanded to other sectors, but maintaining the high level of ties of friendship.    (Source: Prensa Latina)
