Cuba's Youth Recognized as Protagonists in Major Tasks

Havana, Aug. 12 (RHC) Cuba's top officials today congratulated the country's youth on International Youth Day and urged this age group to maintain its leading role in the tasks entrusted to it.

The President of the National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament) reaffirmed the confidence that the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, has always had in them, pointing to their leading role "in the vanguard of the main tasks of the homeland," he wrote.

For his part, the Secretary of Organization of the Communist Party of Cuba, Roberto Morales, said on the same social network that the revolutionary process that triumphed in Cuba in 1959 "continues to be a revolution of young people".

For his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez, highlighted on the same platform the courage and passion with which the youth of the Antillean island are assuming the most difficult tasks at a time when the nation is facing the most intensified blockade by the U.S. government.

Every year on August 12, the United Nations (UN) reinforces the promotion of initiatives to highlight the role of youth in contemporary society and the attention of the international community to their problems.

Likewise, the World Organization reaffirms the concept that young people are decisive actors in today's global society, given the sensitivity of the stage they are passing through with enough energy, if well used, for the rebirth of nations.

The date, established by the General Assembly in 1999, this year highlights the role of young people as the digital and visionary generation at the forefront of the adoption of new technologies.

With this year's theme, "From clicks to progress: youth digital pathways for sustainable development," the UN recognizes that this is the largest demographic of users and developers shaping digital trends worldwide. (Source: Prensa Latina)
