Havana, October 15 (RHC) -- From a standpoint of satire and humor, Cuban cartoonists skewered the economic, trade and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. government against Cuba for over half a century.

The humor magazine Palante launched a special issue this month on occasion of the upcoming UN vote regarding the necessity to end this irrational and punitive U.S. policy against the island.

In its editorial entitled "Muchos contra un poquito," the monthly magazine states that once again the UN General Assembly will vote almost unanimously against the blockade the United States has maintained against Cuba.

It also expresses that the administration of the current U.S. President Barack Obama, in his condition of 2009 Nobel Peace laureate, "far from loosening the hand, has tightened the screws of this relentless war" against the Caribbean nation.

October's issue further states that the island's inclusion in the list of nations sponsoring terrorism is spurious.

The blockade against Cuba, started in 1992 by the administration of U.S. President John F. Kennedy, is already the longest ever registered in modern history.
