Havana, November 30 (RHC) --The youngest generation reenacted today the armed uprising in the city of Santiago de Cuba in support of the landing of the Granma Yacht expeditionaries with Fidel at the front.
Outstanding elementary and secondary school students with giant pencils in hand recalled the assault on the former National Police stations, in Loma del Intendente, and the Maritime Police, located in La Alameda.
At the monument erected to those who fell on November 30, 1956, Tony Aloma, Pepito Tey and Otto Parellada, located at the intersection of Loma del Intendente and Calle Padre Pico, the floral offerings of Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, leader of the Cuban Revolution, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Esteban Lazo Hernández, President of the National Assembly of People's Power and of the Council of State and of the people of Cuba, were deposited.
Yesenia Acuña Borrero, member of the Provincial Bureau of the Union of Young Communists, UJC, of Santiago de Cuba, recalled the outstanding performance of Frank País García, head of action and sabotage of the 26th of July Movement, in the organization of the glorious feat.
He highlighted the validity of the legacy of the Heroes and Martyrs of the uprising in defense of the Homeland.
Within the scope of the commemoration of the anniversary, the results of the emulation of the second stage of the day of decisive effort for the 72nd anniversary of the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks and the 510th anniversary of the founding of the Villa de Santiago de Cuba were announced, where the Municipality of San Luis, Outstanding Contramaestre and Songo-La Maya received the status of Vanguard, and Recognition to Palma Soriano and the Frank País García District, of the Municipality of Santiago de Cuba.
