Havana, December 6 (RHC) -- The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, presided this Friday over the ceremony of awards to workers of the Public Health of the country, on the occasion of the day of tribute to the sector and the 66th anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution.
At the ceremony, the ‘Lázaro Peña Order of the Third Degree’ was awarded to Dr. José Hernández Hernández, from the province of Matanzas, and to the Nursing Graduate, Leonel Puentes Ramos, from the province of Ciego de Ávila, for their outstanding work career.
Likewise, the National Secretariat of the Cuban Workers' Union (CTC), Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, agreed to award the flag of 'Labor Prowess', for the hard work carried out in the recovery after Hurricane Oscar passed through the province of Guantánamo, to the Basic Business Unit of Pharmacy and Optics of Baracoa, and to the IV Congreso (San Antonio), Ciro Frías Cabrera (Imías), and Patricio Sierra Alta (Maisí) polyclinics.
Likewise, 11 workers and a labor group received the well-deserved recognition for their tireless effort and commitment to excellence with the 'Jesús Menéndez' Medal, in addition, 26 people will be awarded the Jesús Menéndez Distinction.
For his part, José Ángel Portal Miranda, member of the Central Committee and Minister of Public Health, will be in charge of the central words of the ceremony of awards to health personnel.
The campaign of tribute to health workers began on November 8 and will extend until January 15, 2025, with activities designed to thank the tireless work of the members of the sector, who with passion and dedication work to alleviate pain, care for health and give hope to all.
As part of this day, events were held for the Day of the Cuban Pharmacist, a tribute to economists and health accountants, a pilgrimage for the anniversary of the shooting of the eight medical students in 1871, a tribute to the medical staff of the Ministry of the Interior and the Revolutionary Armed Forces, prevention days for the confrontation and fight against HIV / AIDS, celebrations for the Day of Latin American Medicine and the delivery of Labor Feat flags to outstanding groups.
The president was accompanied by members of the Political Bureau, Esteban Lazo Hernández, president of the National Assembly of People's Power and the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba; Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the PCC; Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, general secretary of the CTC, and Teresa Amarelle Boue, general secretary of the Federation of Cuban Women.
Also attending were Sucely Morfa González, member of the Central Committee of the PCC and head of the Department of Attention to the Social Sector; Gerardo Hernández Nordelo, national coordinator of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution; and Meyvis Estévez, first secretary of the Union of Young Communists.
