Windhoek, March 21 (RHC) -- The founding father of Namibia, Sam Nujoma, held talks with Cuban First Vice President Miguel Diaz-Canel, who visited the African nation to attend celebrations for national independence and the inauguration of new president Hage Geingob.

Nujoma, 85, received the top Cuban official at the Sam Nujoma Foundation and he asked in perfect Spanish about Fidel Castro.

Diaz-Canel conveyed Nujoma congratulations from the Cuban Revolution leader and of president Raul Castro on the 25th anniversary of Namibia´s National Independence.

The top government Cuban official extended gratefulness to Nujuma and the South West Africa People´s Organization (SWAPO)for the permanent support of the island against the US economic, commercial and financial blockade.

He extended Nujoma an initiation to visit Cuba and ratified the determination of the Cuban revolution to keep supporting the Namibian people.

Diaz Canel attended the swearing-in ceremony for the New Namibian president Hage Geingob, who after being inaugurated head of state asked the people to work together for a new Namibia which raises on three pillars: peace, stability and prosperity.
