Washington, March 28 (RHC)--The Cuban Interests Section in Washington D.C. has once again extended its services up to June 30 despite the impossibility of finding a bank that takes its operation in the United States.

In a statement released on Friday, the consular offices reported that for more than a year now, it does not have banking services that guarantee its normal operations and allow full consular services.

This situation still prevails despite the time that has passed and the current talks between Cuba and the United States to re-establish diplomatic relations.

During the three bilateral talks that have been held since January, the Cuban delegation has insisted in the need to guarantee the normal consular services of the island´s interests Section through the operation of a banking institution in the United States.  The Interests Section explains in its statemebt that it will continue to offer its services through travel agencies that have links with the office in Washington.

The Interests Section adds that they will continue to look for a solution and reiterates that all requests on humanitarian grounds will continue to be processed with priority.

Cuba and the United States will hold talks next week in Washington D.C. on human rights as part of the process of negotiations between the two countries announced on December 17th last year.
