Havana, March 31 (RHC)-- More than 27,000 Cubans, including women and young people, make up the list of candidates for the upcoming mid-term elections to choose delegates to the municipal assemblies of People's Power, the first round of which is programed for April 19th.

The President of the National Electoral Commission, Alina Balseiro, informed that assemblies to nominate candidates were held across the country and the attendance rate surpassed 75 percent.

Balseiro explained that a new stage of the electoral process has now begun, which consists of placing photos and biographies of each and every nominated candidate in public places within their own community so that voters can decide freely on the candidate they think could best represent their interests.

The president of the National Electoral Commission added that most candidates are between 41 and 50 years old, including more than 700 workers from the self-employment sector.
