Havana, May 26 (RHC) -- Salvadoran President Salvador Sanchez Ceren arrives in Cuba Tuesday on an official visit, during which he will hold talks with his Cuban counterpart, Raul Castro.

Sanchez Ceren is accompanied by at least seven ministers, among them those of Health, Education, Environment, Agriculture, Economy, Foreign Affairs, and Technical Secretariat of the Presidency.

Cuba and El Salvador established diplomatic relations on November 11, 1902. Shortly after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution and pressured by Washington and the U.S.-dominated Organization of American States, El Salvador broke off relations with Havana in 1961.

Ties were restored on June 1, 2009, as the first act of the government of the Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front (FMLN), under President Mauricio Funes, who took office that same day.
