Tokyo, June 1 (RHC) -- Senator Akiko Santo, faction leader of the Japanese Parliament's Upper House, highlighted on Monday the good relations between Japan and Cuba.

During a meeting with Cuban Ambassador Marcos Rodriguez in Tokyo, the legislator, who has also been a vice president of the Upper House and Minister of Science, Technology and Environment, favored the strengthening of ties with Cuba.

On the other hand, Rodriguez highlighted the recent high level exchanges between Tokyo and Havana, which saw Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida visiting Havana, in the first visit by a Japanese foreign minister to Cuba.

The Cuban ambassador also stressed the increasing interest of the Japanese business sector in investment opportunities in Cuba.
