Havana, July 14 (RHC) –- Cuba maintains a single cultural policy, built by the Revolution for more than half a century, and it must be applied and met either in state or non-state scenarios.

The remarks were made by First Vice President Miguel Diaz-Canel during debates on the implementation of cultural policy in public spaces by the Cuban Parliament's Commission on Education, Culture, Science, Technology and the Environment.

Diaz-Canel said that Cuban society is the only society that may solve the problems still pending in this area, particularly using its government capabilities from the base and with the democratic participation that characterizes Cuban society.

But “with incoherence between debate and action, we cannot deal with the inefficiencies we are facing in this area,” said Diaz-Canel, adding that debates must go along with actions.

The Cuban first vice president said that government actions and participation are needed, as well as finding spaces for the people to say what kind of activities they want and join in the design of such activities. In this regard, he underscored the role of the family, the school and the community.

The Cuban Parliament's permanent commissions are analyzing crucial issues of Cuban society prior to the upcoming session of the legislative body on Wednesday.
