Roma, September 15 (RHC)- Vatican authorities have confirmed that during his upcoming visit to Cuba, from September 19th through the 22nd, Pope Francis could meet with the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro.
In statements to reporters, Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi, said it is possible that the holy father and the leader of the Cuban revolution meet, although the specific date and time of the meeting have not been set yet.
Francis, the first ever Latin American pope, served as mediator in the negotiations between the United States and Cuba toward the reestablishment of bilateral diplomatic relations and the opening of embassies in each other's capital.
