Cuban First Vice President Meets High-Level UN Official

Havana, October 7 (RHC)-- Cuban First Vice President Miguel Diaz-Canel met on Tuesday in Havana with the manager of the UN Development Program (UNDP), Helen Clark, who is on a working visit to the island.

According to Granma newspaper, the UN official expressed her satisfaction with Cuba's ongoing economic update process and also said that the UNDP is willing to continue offering all possible cooperation to the island.

Diaz-Canel and Clark addressed issues of mutual interest about South-South cooperation, in which Cuba is playing a significant role.

The UNDP official was accompanied by the Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean, Jessica Faieta; the UNDP Resident Representative in Cuba, Myrta Kaulard; and the Assistant Resident Representative Claudio Tomasi.

Also present at the talks was Cuban Foreign Trade and Investment Minister Rodrigo Malmierca as well as the acting director of International Economic Organizations at the Ministry, William Diaz.
