Cienfuegos, October 23 (RHC)-- The economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba restricts the acquisition of teaching aids for Special Education, essential for thousands of children with special educational needs, according to educational authorities in the central province of Cienfuegos.

In statements to Cuba's National Information Agency, Tania Gonzalez Fonseca, Director of the Vilma Espin Guilois Special School for Autistic Children, said that materials are overpriced and must be purchased from third countries.

Hortensia Mesa, Director of the Dionisio San Roman Special School in Cienfuegos, said that special education is expensive because it requires not only trained and qualified personnel, but also the availability of resources, limited by Washington's policy against Cuba.
