Cartagena de Indias, October 30 (RHC)-- Anti-terrorist fighter and Hero of the Republic of Cuba, René González -- one of the Cuban Five -- said Thursday in Colombia that the ongoing process towards the normalization of relations between the United States and Cuba is the logical outcome of the Cuban people's firm resistance against Washington's failed hostile policy.

During a meeting with representatives of solidarity groups and students of the University of Cartagena, René González said that Cuba is living through a decisive moment, marked by big challenges and big opportunities.

Regarding the process to update the Cuban economic model, the Cuban hero said that a sustainable, fair socialist model, like the one Cuba is striving to achieve, “cannot be built with our backs turned on the rest of the world.”
