Havana, December 9 (RHC)-- Cuba and the United States expressed their willingness to continue with their bilateral dialog on the nationalization of U.S. property after 1959 and the damage inflicted on the Cuban people by the over-50-year U.S. blockade of the island.

According to the Cuban Foreign Ministry, during a meeting Tuesday on the issue -- which was held in a respectful and professional environment -- the two sides exchanged information on pending compensations related to the issues. Cuba presented the background of its claims, particularly the demand by the Cuban people for payment of human and economic damage acknowledged by the country's courts. The two sides agreed to continue holding future meetings on the issue, the Cuban Foreign Ministry said.

The Cuban delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Abelardo Moreno and the U.S. delegation was headed by Mary McLeod, Deputy Legal Advisor of the U.S. State Department.
