Havana, February 25 (RHC)-- The intensive national sanitation campaign continues all across Cuba, with reserve and active duty officers of the country's Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) actively participating alongside the people.

Cuba's newspaper Granma reports that the current sanitation campaign is as part of the Action Plan adopted by Cuban authorities under the leadership of the Health Ministry, in response to the current complex epidemiological situation in the Americas.

The current, first phase of the action plan consists of actions to eliminate the breeding sites of Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes -- the primary vector of zika, yellow fever, dengue, and chikungunya.

Cuban authorities confirmed that no cases of Zika, chikungunya nor yellow fever have been reported in the country to date, though they have warned against high levels of mosquito infestation in 55 municipalities across the country.
