Havana, April 6 (RHC)-- On Wednesday, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, Cuba submitted the official documents, signaling the country's adherence to the Convention on Cluster Munitions (CCM).

Cuba condemned the use of cluster munitions and  expressed its strong support for their elimination during a forum on the issue, held last September in Croatia

The Convention on Cluster Munitions addresses the humanitarian consequences and unacceptable harm to civilians caused by cluster munitions and was asdopted in 2008 in Dublin, Ireland.

Being a legally binding international treaty that provides the only international framework for eradicating these weapons, it prohibits all use, production, transfer and stockpiling of cluster munitions.

To date 119 states have joined the convention, of which 99 are States Parties and the remaining 20 are signatories that have yet to ratify the convention.
