Havana, April 21 (RHC)-- Panamanian authorities have announced the building of shelters for some 2 500 Cubans, stranded in the border with Costa Rica. The Cuban migrants are trying to reach the United States encouraged by Washington's arbitrary migration policy towards the Caribbean state.

According to an official statement, the construction of shelters and the migrants' temporary accommodation in local hotels are part of actions taken by the Panamanian government to cope with the situation.

Javier Carrillo, Panama´s migration director, said that under the US 'wet foot, dry foot policy' and the Cuban Adjustment Act grant special benefits to Cuban migrants who arrive on U.S. soil through irregular ways. “This while Washington routinely denies entry visas to those same Cubans, seeking to migrate legally to the U.S.,” he added.
