The welfare of the population, the satisfaction of their needs and how to deepen the work to respond to their concerns, in the midst of the complex situation the country is going through, have distinguished the discussions of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba in its first ordinary session of the X Legislature, which will conclude in the coming hours.

During these days, problems that affect the life of the people and create discomfort, such as high food prices, a constant concern of the citizenship, were evaluated.

In this sense, the progress of the measures implemented to control this negative phenomenon, which have not yet produced the expected results, was checked.

In connection with this problem, an in-depth analysis was made of the measures adopted to stimulate agricultural production, which have not yet had the expected impact.

Another issue of great interest to the population and which has been addressed by the deputies is the situation of the energy system, which has been unstable due to breakdowns and lack of fuel.

Also reviewed were the general directives to prevent and confront crime, illegalities and social indiscipline, phenomena that are not at all in keeping with the spirit of the revolution and which, as Army General Raúl Castro pointed out, threaten the very foundations of our social system.

This plan was approved last October by the Council of Ministers with the people in mind, in order to preserve the tranquility and progress of society, without these distorting attitudes.

Likewise, the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba approved the Policy of Integral Attention to Children and Youth, which offers greater opportunities for the new generations to carry out their life projects.

The Law of the Military Penal Code was also approved, which aims to strengthen compliance with military discipline, safeguard the political, economic and social order of the country, as well as defend the rights and guarantees endorsed in the current Constitution.

Rubén Remigio Ferro, president of the People's Supreme Court, affirmed that this legislation is the result of a collective, plural and enriched elaboration from the base.

These have been days of intense, critical, reflective and enriching debates, as described by Cuban President Miguel Díaz Canel, who stressed that this is the Parliament that Cuba needs, committed to the present and future of the country.
