In recent days, several representatives of the U.S. Republican Party have expressed their discontent with President Donald Trump's management, which is a surprising move for some Americans, although it began long before the health and social crisis that is currently shaking the country.

Even prior to Trump’s impeachment trial, where he was acquitted as expected, conservative politicians and officials had decided not only to stop supporting the president, but also to take actions in order to prevent his re-election in November.

"The Lincoln Project" is one such group -- an American political action committee created in late 2019 with legal capacity to raise funds for electoral purposes.

Still before, there were others, such as "Never Trump Movement" -- in charge of posting comments on social networks, and using narrowcasting.

However, The Lincoln Project has another political category and the last name of President Abraham Lincoln, perhaps the most distinguished president emanating from the Republican Party, who managed to unify the country after the American Civil War from 1861 to 1865.

When this political action committee first came to light, it had already raised one million dollars to make political propaganda against Trump's re-election, at a time when he had the support of most of his party's voters and seemed to be heading towards victory in 2020 presidential elections.

One of the most important spokesmen for this group is George Conway, a lawyer who was considered to become Attorney General of the United States and is the husband of Kelyanne Conway, one of Trump's oldest and most faithful advisers.

The Lincoln Project has harshly criticized the president's position before the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the reaction of the White House regarding the repression of demonstrators against racism and police brutality.

At the same time, other Republicans are opposed to the re-election of the president, including senior members of the Armed Forces and even some senators.

What should be clear is that all these people who criticize Donald Trump, have something in common, they are questioning a figure and a way of governing, instead of the American political system, which they try to protect by all any means necessary.
