European solidarity and support for Cuba

European political and social forces have conveyed messages of support to Cuba, which faces difficult times, while right-wing regional sectors intensify their destabilizing plans.

The Europe for Cuba channel called on everyone to come out on Saturday, March 27th and Sunday, March 28th as a global cry to demand an end to the blockade imposed by the U.S. on the island.

The solidarity platform summoned the five continents to join the world campaign against the blockade, tightened during the administration of former President Donald Trump.

Likewise, the Group of Friendship with Cuba in the European Parliament reiterated its support for the Caribbean country in the face of Washington's policies.  It did so in a virtual contact on COVID-19 challenges with a representation of the Cuban National Assembly of People's Power plus other guests.

At the same time, Cuba's forthcoming participation as an observer in a high-level virtual dialogue between the United Kingdom, the Caribbean Community and the British Overseas Territories was made public.

All of this will contribute to the relations between Cuba and Europe, despite the fact that there have been efforts to cloud the scenario of mutual understanding and respect.

The vice-president of the European Parliament, Dita Charanzová, persists in her quest against the European Union ambassador to Cuba, Alberto Navarro.

Charanzová and other right-wing Euro-deputies lashed out at the diplomat for maintaining a professional conduct during his mission, and adhering to a request to President Joseph Biden for the end of the blockade to Cuba.

But previously, two extreme right-wing deputies, some Cuban artists who disowned their country and a man who calls for the U.S. invasion of the land where he was born, among other conspirators, made a farcical spectacle against Cuba in the European Parliament.

It’s noticeable that two antagonistic visions on how to conduct relations between Europe and Cuba are opening up.

One favors peaceful dialogue, not exempt of analysis on differing points of view and cooperation, while the other encourages the implementation of aggressive plans like the ones applied by Donald Trump, who left the White House, but for people like Charanzová it would seem that he is still haranguing Capitol Hill rioters
