Cuba emphasizes science, technology and innovation for their impact on economic and social life, even though the material constraints resulting from the U.S. blockade and other reasons limit the advancement of projects.
On Cuban Science Day, society recognizes and encourages those who carry out the management of government, economy and services based on these tools of knowledge.
From all angles, there are growing calls for every Cuban with possibilities to contribute to creative solutions to problems that hinder the country's progress towards sustainability and development.
Cuba has a high potential of researchers, innovators and professionals, in addition to other workers who sometimes empirically contribute with their proposals to solve many problems in everyday life, in companies, workshops and service units.
Experts study, for example, how to approach the accelerated aging of the population or the sustenance of the Task Life, a set of actions until 2100 to face the increase of temperatures, sea level and extreme meteorological phenomena.
As experts in the field point out, science, technology and innovation efforts can also be extended to the sectors of public administration, education and culture.
Of course, given its importance, today in Cuba emphasis is placed on the modalities of food production, many of which are in deficit in the market, among other causes due to insufficient inputs in the fields.
As a wise move, the Budget Law of this Caribbean nation contemplates in 2024 the amount of 2.1 billion pesos, in local currency, to support science, technology and innovation, the foundations of the government's line.
The historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, is recognized because in 1969 he outlined the support for the policy of human resources training and professional and scientific advancement of the Revolution.
On that occasion, the politician, thinker and statesman stated that "the future of our country must necessarily be a future of men of Science, a future of men of thought".
Under this premise, no project or policy in favor of environmental culture and sustainable development in Cuba is conceivable without the contribution of people of science.
