Putting all the potential of science and innovation into generating solutions to the problems that currently affect us is a priority of the government, which the Cuban president, Miguel Díaz Canel, has insisted on countless times.

Cuban science has made unquestionable contributions in all these years in various spheres, but much more can still be achieved if forces are joined and work is carried out more comprehensively.

And, as the authorities and especially the Cuban president point out, there is still a lot of unusable knowledge that can contribute to the National Economic and Social Development Plan until 2030.

It is essential that the innovative capacity and valuable knowledge of our scientists, academics and students be extended to the entire society, given the complex panorama that the nation faces today due to the intensification of the North American blockade and the arbitrary inclusion of Cuba in the list of countries supposedly sponsors of terrorism.

Hence, to promote sustained joint work between scientific institutions, universities and territories, agreements are signed between the Academy of Sciences, the provincial delegations of Science, Technology and the Environment and the centers of higher education.

In the eastern province of Holguín this process has already begun, which in the opinion of the doctor in Biological Sciences, Eduardo Martínez Díaz, Minister of Science, Technology and Environment of Cuba, begins a stage that contributes to the improvement of the government management system based on science and innovation.

Last May, at the meeting of the Council of Ministers, the national priorities in science, technology and innovation and the forms of their management were approved.

Thus, projects to develop new exportable products will predominate, generating greater foreign exchange income for the country.

And along with them those related to the production of food and electrical energy, two problems that seriously affect Cubans today.

Important policies and legal regulations have been approved in recent years in Cuba that have led to the strengthening of the science, technology and innovation system, but it is necessary, the authorities have reiterated, to systematize this process and adapt it to the conditions of each moment. a goal on which we work tirelessly.
