U.S. insists on supporting letter to president

 By Nuria Barbosa León

A call is circulating today in the United States to support the objective of removing Cuba from the list of state sponsors of terrorism, in response to a previous letter sent to President Joe Biden.

This new call expresses that the solidarity action of signing the letter will help restore diplomatic progress, alleviate the suffering of ordinary Cubans, and create opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation between the United States and Cuba.

"As we approach the second Trump administration, the urgency of this call cannot be understated. With figures like Senator Marco Rubio as a possible Secretary of State, we face the prospect of a renewed hardline stance that could further tighten restrictions, deepen the suffering of the Cuban people, and close the doors to diplomatic engagement," the memo states.

It emphasizes that now, more than ever, it is critical that President Biden act swiftly to secure a path to peace and cooperation.

It also states that removing Cuba from the false list and reversing Trump-era restrictions can pave the way for a more stable and humane relationship, and provide the Cuban people with a meaningful path to recovery and resilience after multiple natural disasters.

Finally, it refers to the previous letter sent to President Joe Biden, already signed by senators, congressmen, congresswomen, congressmen, leaders of social organizations, intellectuals and academics.

It also includes the signatures of trade unions and political parties.

This information was sent to Radio Habana Cuba by the Los Angeles Committee "Hands off Cuba", which participates in the solidarity initiative and also works to collect donations to send to the Caribbean Island after the passage of two hurricanes through Cuban territory.
