Havana, March 14 (RHC) -- Cuban Press Day is celebrated every March 14 from the early 1990’s to honor the birth of the Patria newspaper.
On March 14, 1892, the newspaper Patria appeared in New York, to "contribute to the organization of Cubans and Puerto Ricans abroad, maintain the friendship that united the independence groups with each other and with all men willing to fight for the emancipation of their peoples… ” It was the outstanding pen and the political and literary genius of Cuban National Hero, José Martí, who gave birth to Patria as a "soldier of freedom".
