Havana, June 13 (RHC) - The Second Choral Music ‘Santa Clara Canta’ Festival will take place online from Sunday 14 to Wednesday 17.
With the attendance of 14 choirs from 10 countries, singers and choral groups will add their voices to the unanimous song for peace, fraternity, resistance and solidarity to face the COVID-19 pandemic.
Led by National Music Award laureate and National Choir Director, maestra Digna Guerra, the meeting will materialize through videos made by the directors of national and foreign groups, which will be posted in the social media and can be listened to and watched on the radio and television. The slogan of choir music maestro Electo Silva 'Singing is life' and the poem La Muralla (The Wall) by Cuba’s National Poet, Nicolás Guillén, will be the main guiding threads of the program scheduled to include choir music, as well as old, concert, country and popular music. In addition to the presentations, the event plans to hold several theoretical sessions.
The second edition of the Choral Music Festival ‘Santa Clara Canta’ (Santa Clara Sings), according to organizers, will pay tribute to Ernesto Che Guevara, on the occasion of his 92nd birthday, and will remember the victory of the Battle of Santa Clara in the central part of Cuba, achieved in 1958 by the rebel forces commanded precisely by the guerrilla fighter. It will also celebrate the city on its 331st anniversary.
