Pianist and composer Harold López-Nussa
Havana, September 22 (RHC) -- Outstanding pianist and composer Harold López-Nussa has revitalized a classic: ‘El Baile del Buey Cansao’ by Los Van Van. Proof of that is how popular the video has been in the social media with Harold’s interpretation of the piece for this album as an irrefutable evidence that what is truly good has no expiry date.
Recorded at the Ojalá studios, Harold is accompanied by a team of star musicians, made up of trumpeter Maykel González, bassist Julio César González and his brother Ruy Adrián López-Nussa on the drums, in addition to charismatic Cimafunk as guest star, who respectfully performs this essential Juan Formell hit.
An emotional tribute is paid to Los Van Van, the so called ‘Cuban Music Train’; such recognition extends to ‘Para Bailar’, a memorable TV dance show, a spirit that encourages Raupa, Nelson Ponce and Edel Rodríguez, the makers of the suggestive retro video in question.
Edited in black and white, with a texture that imitates that of a videotape damaged by the passage of time, the Lizt Alfonso Company couples appear in the middle of a set that reproduces the atmosphere of that popular show in which the inevitable jazz sparkles of these young musicians bring us back to today’s musical dynamics.
