Havana, January 28 (RHC)--The Cuban United Nations Association (ACNU) is dedicating this year's celebration of World Radio Day to Cuba's only international shortwave radio station Radio Havana Cuba, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year.
The occasion will be held on February 12th at ACNU's headquarters in Havana. The staff of Radio Havana Cuba will join the celebration.
Radio Habana Cuba broadcasts on shortwave, FM, and online (www.radiohc.cu), in Spanish, English, French, Portuguese, Arabic, Creole, and Esperanto.
World Radio Day is celebrated every year on February 13th, proclaimed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 2011.
World Radio Day aims to raise awareness among the public and the media of the importance of the medium and encourage decision-makers to establish and provide access to information through radio. It also seeks to improvee networking and international cooperation between broadcasters.
