Havana, April 2 (RHC)-- The Argentine Foundation ‘Un Mundo mejor es posible’ or ‘A better world is possible’ has signed a cooperation agreement with Cuba to implement the Cuban teaching method ‘Yo sí puedo’ (Yes, I Can) in the South American nation.

More than 10 million adults in 130 nations have learned how to read and write, using the Cuban method thus far.

Founded in 2003, the Foundation -a non-profit entity- aims to improve the quality of life of the Argentine population, mainly through health and education.

Cuban Ambassador to Argentina Pedro Pablo Prada signed the agreement on behalf of the Caribbean state. He spoke about the validity today of the ideas of Revolution leader Fidel Castro, at whose initiative the program was created by Cuban professor Leonela Relys.

Cuba’s ‘Yo sí puedo’ teaching method was granted the UNESCO King Sejong Literacy Prize in 2006, for its contribution to the global fight against illiteracy.
