Havana, Oct. 11 (RHC)-- The headquarters of the Association of Writers and Artists (UNEAC) hosted the presentation of the book ‘Cuando el béisbol se parece al cine’ (When baseball resembles films), by Venezuelan-Cuban writer Norberto Codina under Ediciones ICAIC publishing house.
A report on Twitter indicates that the book launching took place with limited audience, presided over by historian and baseball fan Félix Julio Alfonso and filmmaker Arturo Sotto.
The activity paid tribute to Codina on his 70th birthday.
Concerning the book, Codina said it 'deals with the relationship between baseball, culture and national identity', a recurring theme in several of his previous articles, chronicles and other publications.
The book presentation took place in the framework of activities to celebrate the declaration of baseball as Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Cuban Nation. The official declaration will take place on October 19 during a ceremony at Palmar de Junco stadium in Matanzas province.
