Havana, Oct. 13 (RHC)-- A new exhibition of works by Cuban artists was inaugurated Thursday at the Contemporary Art Center DA2 of Salamanca, in Spain.

Running through January 16th, the exhibition, entitled 'Cantos de Griot', comprises some 34 works belonging to the Luciano Méndez Sánchez Collection, as well as an installation by Cuban artist José Bedia, from the collection of the Contemporary Art Center of Salamanca.

The exhibition is the result of a cooperation agreement signed in 2019 between the mayor of Salamanca, Carlos García Carbayo, and local private art collector Luciano Méndez. It provides for the display of a total of 216 art works, from Méndez’ private collection, in cities across Salamanca.

Luciano Méndez Sánchez first arrived in Cuba in the early 21st century, attracted by the work of Cuban artists. His private collection now includes more than 600 art pieces by Cuban artists from different generations and styles.

The current exhibition 'Cantos de Griot', includes pieces by José Bedia, Moisés Finalé, Santiago Rodríguez Olazábal, Eduardo Roca (Choco), Manuel Mendive, Carlos Quintana, Roberto Chile, Ricardo Elías and Roberto Diago.
