Formell y Los Van Van
Guanajuato, Oct. 14 (RHC)-- Cuba’s emblematic band Formell y Los Van Van delighted Mexican audiences with their art with a live, in-person, one-time only concert in the framework of the Cervantino Festival.
The Cuban musicians shared onstage with Orquesta Filarmónica del Desierto –a prestigious Mexican symphony orchestra.
The band, founded in 1959 by maestro, the late Juan Formell performed iconic tunes from its vast repertoire, among them ‘Sandunguera’, ‘Anda, ven y quiéreme’, ‘Aquí el que baila gana’, ‘Recíbeme’, and ‘Vale dos’, as well as a new, improvised version of ‘La Guantanamera’, which includes verses written by Cuban National Hero José Martí.
Los Van Van, true ambassadors of Cuban culture, concluded the concert with the guaguancó tune ‘Somos Cubanos’, which speaks about Cuban nationality and its roots.
The concert, streamed live on the YouTube channel of the Cultural Secretariat of the Mexican Government and the event’s platforms on social networks, registered over two thousand internet viewers in countries like Chile, Argentina, Cuba and Peru.
