4th edition of Ramonet's book presented in Havana

The fourth edition of the book ‘Cien horas con Fidel’ (One Hundred Hours with Fidel) was presented at Havana’s Fidel Castro Ruz Studies Center. The book launch, in the framework of activities on the 63rd anniversary of the Revolution, was attended by its author, Spanish journalist Ignacio Ramonet.

The 718-page text compiles a series of conversations between Ramonet and Fidel Castro between 2003 and 2006, considered a spoken autobiography of the Cuban Revolution leader.

This fourth edition was again revised, corrected and improved by the interviewer. It includes also two previously unpublished hours of conversation between Ramonet and Fidel from their last encounter.

During the presentation, the Spanish academic shared some anecdotes from that last encounter, the close friendship between them and the distinctive features of this book, as compared with other biographies of Fidel.

Luis Morlote, president of the Association of Writers and Artists (UNEAC), noted that the book chronicles the main events in Fidel Castro’s Life, and addresses also the Revolution’s first steps and the first challenges and problems. The book then deals with a wide range of issues, from the public trials of murderers and henchmen of the defeated Batista Dictatorship to the relationship between the newly born Revolution and women, homosexuals and the Catholic Church.

Also on hand during the presentation of the fourth edition of (One Hundred Hours with Fidel) were Cuban intellectuals Miguel Barnet, Pedro de la Hoz and the President of Casa deLas Américas Abel Prieto.
