Havana, April 30 (RHC)-- The National Library of Cuba 'José Martí' (BNCJM) dedicated its Open Library space to pay tribute to poet Fina García-Marruz (1923-2022), recognized as an indispensable voice of literature on the island.

The space opened its doors the day before with words written by the director of the BNCJM, Omar Valiño, while intellectual Rafael Acosta de Arriba read and commented on a poem by Fina in tribute to her centennial.

A panel dedicated to the analysis and study of the life and work of the poet and essayist was held at the Hart Theater of the Havana institution, with the participation of scholars of her work Araceli García Carranza, Roberto Méndez, Jesús David Curbelo and Acosta de Arriba himself.

The exhibition 'Fina at the Jose Marti National Library of Cuba' was inaugurated on the same day. It is made up of museum objects and bibliographic material such as photos and letters of the writer with Cintio Vitier, her husband, belonging to the institution.

The exhibition was curated by Carlos Valenciaga, senior specialist in Cuban collections, and Amarilys Maura Gutiérrez, fair and exhibition assembly technician.
