Havana, May 5 (RHC)-- Los Van Van, one of the best musical groups in Cuba today, will perform on May 26 at the Lehman Center for the Performing Arts in the U.S. city of New York, as part of a tour that will include Miami, San Francisco, San Diego, Houston and Puerto Rico, according to the orchestra's official Facebook site.
The legendary group will perform on May 19 at the Miami Beach Bandshell, and on May 27 at the famous San Francisco Carnival and at the Roccapulco Club, also in that Californian city.
The publication notes that one day later, the Cuban music train, as it is known on the island, will perform at the San Diego Caribbean Festival, on the U.S. East Coast, in a fund-raising event to provide music lessons and instruments to underprivileged young people in that city.
In addition to Los Van Van, the festival includes performances by the orchestras Tipica 73, from Puerto Rico, which will be celebrating its 50th anniversary, and La Verdad from Los Angeles.
Another of its publications on that social network informs that Los Van Van will also tour Europe from June 3 to 16.
Founded in 1969 by bassist Juan Formell, the orchestra has remained since then in the preference of the Cuban public and the followers abroad of popular dance music produced in the Caribbean island.
It received in 1999 the Grammy for its album "Llegó... Van Van (Van Van is here)" and several nominations in other editions.
In November 2013, its director for more than 5 decades won the Latin Grammy for Musical Excellence. (Source:PL)
