Cuban Museum of Universal Art exhibits valuable collection about Mexico

Havana, Jan 23 (RHC) The Museum of Fine Arts of Cuba exhibits today in its Universal Art Building a valuable exhibition about Mexico with paintings, drawings and engravings belonging to its funds.

The exhibition “Four hundred years of Mexican art in the collections of the National Museum of Fine Arts” brought to light works organized by their corresponding dates, which make up the collections of Latin American Art and International Contemporary Art.

The public can enjoy the creations of important authors of 18th century New Spain plastic arts and world renown, such as José Mariano Hernández, Miguel de Herrera, José de Páez and José Medina.

The room that houses the contemporary segment highlights pieces by José Clemente Orozco, Diego Rivera, José David Alfaro Siqueiros, José Luis Cuevas, as well as pieces by Manuel Felguérez and José Guadalupe Posada.

According to its curators, Yanet Berto and Margarita González, the greatest merit of the exhibition lies in the dissemination of the Mexican plastic arts, as well as the possibility of showing part of this heritage with a speech referring specifically to the Mexican nationality of the works.
