Call for Asian Film Festival in Hanoi, the Vietnamese capital

Hanoi, June 10 (Prensa Latina)--  More than 60 films are currently competing in the second edition of the Da Nang Asian Film Festival (Danaff II), scheduled from July 2 to 7 in that Vietnamese coastal city.

As announced, the jury for the competition for the best Asian film will be made up of the Chinese-French filmmaker Dai Sijie, the former director general of the Cinéfondation de Cannes Georges Goldenstern, the executive director of the Berlin International Film Festival, Meriette Rissenbeek, the actress Tran Nu Yen Khe, and director Ha Le Diem.

Presenting the awards in the Vietnamese film category will be the Chinese director Guan Jinpeng, the producer Tran Thi Bich Ngoc, the People's Artist Le Khanh, the director Leon Quang Le and the general secretary of the Film Alliance Network of Asia, Lorna Tee.

All films participating in Danaff II will be screened for free during the event, whose program also includes workshops to share experiences and select talented young filmmakers to train them under the direction of national and international experts.

The opening and closing of the Festival will take place at the Trung Vuong theater, where the international conference “The style of film production of director Dang Nhat Minh”, the program “Exchange between artists and audiences” and the workshop “Caring for the “talent”.

Children of the Mist, by Vietnamese director Ha Le Diem, won the Best Asian Film award at the initial edition of the Da Nang Asian Film Festival.

The Iranian Mohsen Tanabandeh, who starred in the feature film World War III, was awarded as best actor and Juliet Bảo Ngọc Doling, star of Glorious Ashes, won the award for best actress in that same category.

In the national film competition, the prize went to Nobody's House, by comedian and director Tran Thanh, considered the highest-grossing Vietnamese film of all time.
