Lima, August 3 (RHC) – The Cuban Boxing squad that recently finished its competition schedule in the Pan-Am Games, received with satisfaction a congratulations message sent by President Miguel Diaz-Canel.
After getting 8 titles out of possible 10, inside the Pan-American ring, President Diaz-Canel tweeted: ``Excellent performance of Cuban boxing in Lima. Congratulations to our team and coaching staff. #WeAreCuba #WeAreContinuity´´
The message was read by the President of the Cuban Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER) Osvaldo Vento Montiller in the Miguel Grau Coliseum, in the Villa Deportiva in Callao, Peru.
The Cuban squad achieved a total of 8 Gold medals and 1 Silver and 1 Bronze. Lázaro Álvarez (60 kg), Roniel Iglesias (64 kg), Julio César La Cruz (81 kg), Dainier Peró (más 91 kg), Osvel Caballero (56 kg), Andy Cruz (64 kg), Arlen López (75 kg) and Erislandy Savón (91 kg) were the `golden´ boxers, while. Yosbany Veitía (52 kg) with a Silver and Damián Arce (49 kg) with the Bronze, completed the medal harvest.
