Havana, August 30 (RHC)-- The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel congratulated on Monday the Cuban Paralympic athletes for the medals they won in Tokyo.

In a first message published on his Twitter account, the Cuban president referred to Leinier Savón, who won silver in the long jump, in the T-12 category (profound visual impairment).  Savón achieved this Sunday a personal best of 7.16 meters (m) to give Cuba its first medal in this event.

In another tweet, Díaz-Canel highlighted the performance of Leonardo Díaz, the discus-volleyball player who won the bronze medal in the final of the corresponding track and field event.  The Cuban leader said it was "another joy for the Homeland."

With 43.36 meters (m), Díaz achieved his best mark of the current season in the discus throw to guarantee his presence on the podium in the F-56 category (wheelchair).

In this way, the award-winning athlete added his fourth medal in this type of events, counting the two titles and the bronze medal won in previous events.
