Havana, November 29 (RHC)-- The heads of the National Olympic Committees of Cuba and Chile, Roberto Leon Richard and Miguel Angel Mujica, respectively, signed on Monday in Colombia, an agreement to strengthen and expand collaboration, in the context of the First Junior Pan American Games Cali-Valle 2021.

Both executives signed the document in the presence of the president of Panam Sports, Neven Ilic, who said he was deeply satisfied with the agreement.

León Richard recalled that the process of preparation and review of the text began in 2019, and praised the fact that it could materialize when the first continental youth event is taking place.

In declarations to Prensa Latina news agency, the president of the Cuban Olympic Committee (in the photo) anticipated that as part of the agreement, the island could take better advantage of Chilean experience in collective sports such as soccer, handball and basketball.

Chile, meanwhile, could receive from Cuba support in the training of middle and higher level teachers in the sports field; assimilate the Cuban experience in sports that in six decades brought it more than 70 Olympic titles, and also appreciate the advances in the fight against doping.

He also announced that as part of the agreement, the Chilean Olympic Committee will recognize Cuba's National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (Inder) when hiring technicians, physiotherapists and other specialists.

For his part, Mujica also ratified the satisfaction of signing such an agreement, which "will undoubtedly be beneficial for both parties," he said.
