Havana, January 19 (RHC)- The Gigantes del Cibao team tied the grand final of the Dominican Baseball League by defeating Estrellas Orientales 6-3 in a game played at the Julián Javier stadium in San Francisco de Macorís.

The game was calm until the third inning when the Estrellas scored twice after Elehuris Montero was tagged out with the bases loaded and Jeremy Peña singled.

However, in the bottom of the inning, the Giants broke the deadlock with a double by Cuban Henry Urrutia, which drove in two runs, and a home run by Marcell Ozuna with two on base, which put the game at 5-2, an advantage that the Cibao team never lost.

Later, the Easterners added a run in the eighth on a Yamaico Navarro homer, and José Sirí scored his team's sixth run on a hit by Hanser Alberto.

The game was won by Tyler Alexander and Wilmer Ríos took the loss.

The series will continue today at the Tetelo Vargas Stadium in San Pedro de Macorís, and the starters will be two Cubans, Yuneski Maya for the Estrellas and Elian Leyva for the Gigantes.
