Havana, January 19 (RHC)-- Argentinean tennis player Diego Schwartzman will face today the host Christopher O'Connell in order to advance to the third round of the first Grand Slam of the season.
The day before, "Peque" Schwartzman made his debut with a 6-3, 6-4, 7-5 victory over Serbian Filip Krajinovic in two hours and 34 minutes of play.
The South American player, ranked 13th in the world, managed to break his opponent's serve eight times and was 96 percent effective with his serve.
Meanwhile, O'Connell defeated Frenchman Hugo Gaston 7-6 (7-4), 6-0, 4-6 and 6-1.
Another Argentine, Sebastián Báez, ranked 88th in the world ranking, defeated Spain's Albert Ramos (44) 6-4, 4-6, 6-3, 1-6, 6-2, while fellow Argentine Marco Trungelliti (198) lost 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 to American Frances Tiafoe (34).
This Wednesday, Baez will face the challenge of Greek star player Stefanos Tsitsipas, while Tiafoe will measure forces with his compatriot Taylor Fritz.
