Havana, February 9 (RHC)-- A draw that kept the embrace at the top, signed by Lisandra Ordaz from Pinar del Rio and Yaniela Forgas from Santiago during the seventh round of the National Women's Chess Championship, which is almost leaving the city of Holguin and still nobody dares to predict a winner.

Ordaz defends the title conquered in 2020, but this time she has not managed to "escape" from the pack, as Yaniela continues without yielding and now both exhibit 5.5 points after dividing honors in 33 moves of a Bird defense.

"It's a bit of an unusual opening, which got them into an interesting position. Lisandra had perhaps a more favorable position and then in the middle game it was Yaniela who was able to find better winning options," Aramís Álvarez, coach of the women's Olympic team, described to JIT GM Aramís Álvarez.

"Yaniela missed her chances and finally Lisandra came out of complications, until they reached an equilibrium," he summed up about the most followed duel of the date at the Eradio Dominguez academy.

The other player from Pinar del Río, Yerisbel Miranda, was able to exercise her mastery over Yuleisy Hernández from the capital and scored a victory that left her as the only escort of the leaders, now with five points.

For Camagüey's Ineymig Hernández and Santiago's Maritza Arribas it was also a good afternoon because they won over Santiago's Leannet Bosch and Zirka Frómeta, in that order.

Ineymig has 4.5 units, while Maritza has four and shares position with Yuleisy.

Completing Tuesday's results were the victory of Yoanna Gonzalez (HAB) against Patricia Hernandez (VCL), and the draw of Karen Gutierrez (MTZ) with Oleiny Linares (SCU).

In the eighth round, Ordaz will take white pieces against Oleiny and Yaniela against Yoanna; Ineymig will have the same color of figures against Yuleisy and Maritza will also make the first move against Leannet.

Finally, Yerisbel will have a board against Karen and Patricia against Zirka, the first mentioned always in possession of the light figures.
