Haarlem Baseball Tournament

Havana, June 23 (JIT) - The National Baseball Commission announced the members of the Granma team for the XXX Haarlem Baseball Week, in the Netherlands, to be held from July 8 to 15 at the Pim Mulier stadium.

In the roster, directed by Carlos Martí, stand out the reinforcements Ariel Pestano Jr. (Villa Clara), Alexander Ayala (Camagüey), Leonel Moas (Camagüey), Fréderich Cepeda (Sancti Spíritus), Dennis Laza (Mayabeque), José Ramón Rodríguez (Camagüey), Pavel Hernández (Havana) and Yoen Socarrás (Sancti Spíritus).                

Teams from Italy, Japan, China, Taipei of China, the Netherlands and reigning champion Japan are also expected to take part in the competition.

Cuba won the event for the last time in 2012, a result that also constitutes its last medal in these contests, since in 2018 it concluded in fourth place.  

The history of the event includes five Cuban crowns, the first in 1972, precisely the year of our debut.

RANKERS: Guillermo Avilés Difurnó, Carlos Benítez Pérez, Lázaro Cedeño González, Osvaldo Abreu Sánchez, Yulián Milán Matos and Alexander Ayala García.

GARDENERS: Alexquemer Sánchez Sánchez, Fréderich Cepeda Cruz, Denis Laza Spencer and Leonel Moa Acevedo.

PITCHERS: Leandro Martínez Figueredo, César R. García Rondón, Yoel Mojena Machado, Kelvis Rodríguez León, Carlos Santana Santiesteban, Erluis Blanco Reyes, Miguel Paradelo Aguilar, Juan Danilo Pérez Meriño, José R. Rodríguez Menéndez, Yuen Socarrás Suárez and Pavel Hernández Bruces.
