Havana, July 20 (JIT) - Cuba will attend the Pan American Weightlifting Championship in Bogota 2022, scheduled for July 24-29, with 20 representatives.

Felix Machin, head of the national technical team of this sport, confirmed today to JIT the lists of weightlifters in both sexes and the main objectives with which they will travel to the capital of the coffee country.

According to the professor, the Cuban weightlifters are concluding a macro-cycle of preparation and will be looking for their best records, the only formula to accomplish the titanic task ahead of them.

It should be known that this fight in Bogota will be the second and last qualifying phase towards the Pan American Games of Santiago 2023, after an initial segment held in Ecuador at the end of 2021, which our weightlifters could not attend.

This being so, it is necessary to achieve the best possible results and score the points that will allow an adequate classification for the main event of the sport in the continent in the current four-year period.

Havana's Marina Rodriguez and Cienfuegos' Olfides Saez are the leaders of a team full of young and promising figures.

Once again, the main rivals will be the navies of Colombia, the United States, Mexico, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic.
