Boxing: Yoenlis Hernandez and his world title without being national champion
Havana, September 3 (JIT) - Cuban Yoenlis Feliciano Hernandez beat his rival and the referee stopped the unequal fight in the sixth round, bringing to 12 his consecutive wins in professional boxing bouts.
The outcome took place in the Mexican city of Uruapan, with the middleweight world champion defeating local Juan Sanchez to remain undefeated in two such outings.
The reviews highlighted "power punches, rain of hooks and straight punches to the humanity of the "Maniac", as the host is known, who came to this fight with a balance of four wins, two setbacks and a draw.
"He dominated the fight from start to finish," commented to JIT from the venue Gerardo Saldivar, president of the Golden Ring company, which represents the interests of the Cuban Boxing Federation in those scenarios.
The next boxers to step into the ring are two-time Olympic champions Arlen Lopez (September 9) and Roniel Iglesias (September 30) and three-time world champion Lazaro Alvarez (September 24), although their opponents are yet to be made official.
